Artist Statement

I approach art-making with the curiosity of a child, filtered through life experience and studies of art history and critical theory.  I then let go of theory and ‘rules’ to explore the risks and the subsequent rewards in the outcome. Improvisation keeps me focused on the present, whatever happens on the canvas—asking myself 'what if' questions fuels my practice with infinite possibilities.

I am interested in how making, experiencing, or viewing art can affect us as whole people. In the end, I hope my work encourages others to ask questions and ponder life.
